ABOUT ME
book author Dr. Franklin Thompson has recently joined the ranks of celebrated authors with the fall 2022 release of his autobiography entitled Confessions of a Murphy’s Law Child. It is an in-depth look at what is takes for citizens to overcome child abuse, racism, poverty, learned helplessness, and dysfunctional political bickering. It has been reviewed by the likes of U.S. Congressman Don Bacon, former Omaha Mayor Hal Daub, Omaha Councilwoman Aimee Melton, Retired Omaha Police Chief Thomas Warren, and several others. Each reviewer has given the book a thumbs up, and stated that it is a must-read for educators, counselors, politicians, and professionals who work in the human and race relations fields of study.
Franklin Thompson served as a four-time elected representative for the Omaha City Council from 2001 until 2017. He also served as the Director of Human Rights and Relations for the City of Omaha from 2017 until 2022. |
EDUCATORThompson’s main focus in life has been working with young people. He served as an educator for 45 years—29 of those at the collegiate level, and 16 years at the secondary level. Thompson earned a doctorate in educational administration in 1997. He is currently an associate professor in the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. His academic areas of expertise are race relations, multicultural education, urban education, working with at-risk youth, and counseling. He has published several journal articles that demonstrate a meaningful and diverse research agenda.

SONGWRITERThompson is also a singer-songwriter of original music that addresses positive themes dealing with civil rights, social justice, race relations, human relations, family values, self-reliance, and spiritual awakening.
